Shop Codes
What are Shop codes?
Shop codes are usually a string of letters and numbers (e.g. 5DISCOUNT) or buzzword (e.g. VALENTINE)
which can be entered into the shopping basket and/or checkout at online stores to save money when shopping online for goods and services. They're the online equivalent of in-store discount vouchers.
Shop Codes can be:
- Generic codes, which usually means a discount across the entire site.
- Product specific codes, which typically applies to selected categories, products or services.
Why do stores issue Shop Codes?
- To attract news coverage and raise brand awareness.
- To attract extra sites visitors leading to more sales and signups to online services.
- To attract sales from their competitors.
- To clear stock.
Shop codes usually offer a percentage discount, a fixed saving or free delivery but could apply to anything the issuing site comes up with.
